He made his radio debut over WABC in New York, a CBS affiliate, on 12 May 1930.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWinchellÍs newspaper column was syndicated in over 2,000 newspapers worldwide, and he was read by 50 million people a day from the1920s until the early 1960s. Each Sunday night WinchellÍs radio broadcast was heard by another 20 million people from 1930 to the late 1950s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring the 1950Ís, NBC had given him the opportunity to host a variety show, which lasted only thirteen weeks.
